(LONGVIEW, TX) – It used to be only those headed for the ministry and attending a seminary could take part in biblical classes taught by experienced professors. In this day of Internet connectivity and distance learning, interested students (whether professionals or laypersons) have access to the best in training without leaving town.

Pine Crest Bible Church has joined with Tyndale Theological Seminary and Biblical Institute (Ft. Worth, TX) to offer a wide array of courses here in Longview. Students can take part in small class settings, use the Learning Lab computers to connect to Tyndale, or even study at home using their own computers and Internet access. All levels of learners are welcome, whether they wish to study for undergraduate or graduate-level credit hours, seek a certificate in an area of study, or simply want to learn for their own knowledge.

"I've always wanted to study Greek and Hebrew in order to better understand the riches of the Bible," said student Becca Anderson. "For me, that was a pipe dream because I had neither time nor money to attend a seminary. Now I can learn right here. I'm looking forward to taking lots of classes in the coming years."

Tyndale Learning Center at Pine Crest

Dale West is Dean of Tyndale Learning Center (Longview). He hopes the availability of courses will be attractive and helpful to many people in the area. "The comprehensive list of courses available through Tyndale Seminary in theology, biblical languages, ministry, and Christian education means there's something in the catalogue for everybody. Making courses of this caliber available through the Internet or on CD is a logical extension of the seminary today."

Classes recorded on CD for distance learners include guest lectures by recognized speakers such as Paul Enns (Doctrine of Christ), Norman L. Geisler (Biblical Criticism) and Dr. Charles C. Ryrie (various topics). Professors at Tyndale teach 8-10 week courses, and students can learn at their own pace if they study independently, or join small classes at the church.
